Compact gliding course: the advantages
The flight day in the gliding compact course

We start the flying day at 9 a.m. directly at Germany's highest airfield on the Wasserkuppe.
After the obligatory daily briefing, you and your experienced flight instructor will start your first training flights in a two-seater glider using winch towing.
You will learn step by step, with personal flight instructor support and at your own pace, how to take off, fly and land safely in a glider.
Later, after you have achieved solo flying qualification, your flight instructor will accompany you via radio from the ground on your solo flights until you land.
After lunch together and a lunch break, further flights are scheduled until around sunset.
After the flight operations have been completed, we will end the day – in the tradition of the aviation pioneers – in a relaxed atmosphere and with a reflection on the course day.
We carry out as many flights as possible during the course. If the weather is not suitable for flying, a gliding simulator is available for indoor training.
Requirements for participation
- a minimum age of 14 years (persons under 18 can participate with the written consent of all legal guardians); There is no upper age limit as long as you are fit to fly.
- a height of no more than 2 meters
- a body weight of no more than 100 kg
Issue of fitness to fly: You do not necessarily need a medical examination for the training flights with a flight instructor as part of this course. You only need to have such a medical examination before your first solo flight.
If you are aiming for solo flight qualifications and further training to obtain a glider license, you should have your medical issued by an aviation doctor before the course begins. You can find a list of aviation doctors in Germany here.
You should bring that with you
- Headgear
- sunglasses
- Clothing (suitable for outdoor use, such as hiking)
- Drinking bottle/snacks for in between

What happens after the course?
Learning to fly is an individual matter. With our gliding compact course you get an affordable and easy introduction to gliding training.
Even outside of the compact course weeks, you can take part in our regular training sessions, which we hold every day when the weather is suitable for flying. Achieving solo flight qualification is realistic after about two weeks of flight training (participation in the compact course and/or individual daily training sessions).
For the further training To obtain your license, you will complete further flights and theory units until you are ready to take the exam. After passing the theory and practical exams, you will receive your pilot's license.
Your advantage: We train every day throughout the season, depending on flying weather. This enables you to receive maximum individual training at your own pace.
